All About Chelsea Pines Inn
Jay Lesiger
Chelsea Pines Inn was originally built as a private home back when 14th Street was the northern end of the city. Our building has gone through many exciting changes over the years. As the City grew around us it became a fashionable rooming house and was used as the setting in Cool Air, a short story about air conditioning, written well before air conditioning was invented, by the celebrated horror author H.P. Lovecraft.(Just as a note, Chelsea Pines Inn has central air.)Eventually 317 West Fourteenth Street was home base to sailors in the Merchant Marine during the early 20th century, when this area was a working port.In 1983 the late Sheldon Post and his lover Jay Lesiger purchased the building and created Chelsea Pines Inn.
Today, Chelsea Pines Inn features unique rooms, each one dedicated to a "Celluloid Hero" from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Our rooms feature 300 thread-count luxury linens and Gilchrist & Soames bath amenities. Jay continues to operate the inn, along with his friend, General Manager Al Ridolfo, and his spouse, Sales & Marketing Director Tom Klebba.
